Today, November 6, 2020 will go on record as day 200 without measurable rain in the Las Vegas valley. It is in the weekend forecast and will hopefully happen.
These six to eight inch dormant grasses are what the horses are foraging on, Cheat grass, Indian Rice grass and Red Brome (Foxtails). Their growth was from the spring of 2019.
I remain thankful for the summer of 2019’s gather. The fifty-two horses in the HMA today have been in above normal condition all year. I can’t imagine what the horses and land would look like if all three hundred were still out there.
