Tailings of the actual YP claim and a water tank.
****The YP consists of 12 claims, most of which are vertical. They’re located in Porphyry Gulch. The first claim was located in 1892. Ore, gold, silver, copper, lead and zinc were shipped from 1906 to 1929. Work was done off and on from the 1930s through WWII. The area had its own store, bunk house, boarding house and school. The area had it’s first of three fires that I’m aware of in 1919. The other two were in the 1920s. There was, a narrow-gauge railway that run from the mine, to the mill site, then east to the Union Pacific. The rail bed is all that remains today.
