We had the honor of observing a young Cooper hawk who had perched in one of our pine trees. The bird choose the tree next to the dog’s pool, and lived there for a week. The bird’s parents nested near by and continued to feed him while he learned to fly. I’m happy to report he successfully flew off. It was a wonderful experience. (He was here during most of the 9 days over 110 degrees.)
