We returned back to the mine and partially standing assay office, with the base of it’s oven.
Behind the building, amid the tailings, were numerous pieces of crucibles.
Crucibles were filled with crushed ore samples and mixed with a flux. The crucible would go into the oven where the flux would be heated to red. When removed from the oven, the “glass” is poured off. The remaining ore would be poured into a mold to settle and cool, then tested.
